The C5+1 Youth Council, with support of the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek, is pleased to announce the upcoming Annual International Debate Tournament C5+1 Network Cup. C5+1 Network Cup is aimed to bring together youth debaters from across all five Central Asian countries plus Afghanistan to debate on topics of regional importance as presented by C5+1 initiative: 1. Global Counterterrorism and Security 2. Central Asia Business Competitiveness 3. Transport Corridor Development 4. Environmental Issues and Climate Change When: November 23-24, 2019 Where: American University of Central Asia; Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan Debate format: British Parliamentary debates Language: English (intermediate) Total teams to participate: 36 (72 participants) Details: Debate Tournament Network Cup 2019 aims to teach young leaders public speaking, debate skills and critical thinking. The event will be conducted in the format of educational sessions on debate and public speaking (beginner, intermediate, advance level) on the Saturday and Debate Competition (tournament) on Sunday. For international debaters (Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) traveling and accommodation expenses will be covered, however, the amount of teams to participate is limited*: - Kazakhstan – 3 teams (6 participants) from Astana, 6 teams (12 participants) from Almaty - Tajikistan – 2 teams (4 participants) from Dushanbe - Uzbekistan – 2 teams (4 participants) from Tashkent For Kyrgyzstan participants: All students from non-Bishkek universities are welcome to apply too. We will try to provide transportation and/or accommodation in Bishkek to selected participants from the Universities in Kyrgyzstan, however, it will depend on the number of applicants. How to become a participant: - Participants must be University or High School students - All interested candidates must fill out an application form: speakers must register individually; teams will be registered after final list of participants is confirmed - All selected participants will have to be present for BOTH days (Saturday and Sunday) from 8 to 6 pm - The application does not guarantee participation. In the case of a large number of applications, the organizers will select final participants.
