Rich Froning Jr. (born July 21, 1987, Capac, Michigan, United States) is a professional Crossfit athlete known for his achievements in the 2010, 2011, and 2012 Crossfit Games. He has won the title of "Fittest Man on Earth" two times with his first place in the 2011 and 2012 Crossfit Games. Froning gave an impressive performance both of these years, dominating the competition and overtaking other well known athletes such as Graham Holmberg, Matt Chan, Chris Spealler, Jason Khalipa, and many others.
In 2010 Froning landed a spot in the 2010 Crossfit Games Central East Regional. Froning won this competition with ease giving him a ticket to the 2010 Crossfit Games. During the 2010 games, Froning started off strong but had to settle for second place due to his inability to climb a rope at the same output as others in the competition. Thus was the debut of Froning in the Crossfit community, soon becoming an important figure and inspiration for all Crossfitters. In 2011, Froning came back even stronger winning with ease, and taking the title of "Fittest man on Earth." Froning did the same in 2012 dominating the competition both years. Rich has recently opened up his own Crossfit affiliate—Crossfit Mayhem—in Cookeville, Tennessee. In addition to this, Froning continues to travel the world, representing Crossfit and his sponsor BSN which makes performance supplements.
Froning is known for his intense training methods. He is often said to do as many as five workouts a day, and he was quoted saying after the first day of the 2012 Crossfit Games Regional Competition "This is kind of a rest day for me." Although it is common among Crossfitters to eat along the lines of the Paleolithic diet, Rich Fronning has admitted that he does not follow this diet at all, eating whatever, McDonald's, Subway, Burger King, KFC.
