In 2005, I first started performing for a local band-night in my hometown back in England under the stage name Heymoonshaker. Whilst doing so I networked with other musicians creating a fan base in the local area. In 2007, I moved to a small mountain town called les deux alpes for the winter season and travelled to various resorts performing professionally. Upon returning to England I arranged various gigs including the opening slot for Frank Turner a post-punk folk singer whose fan base has spread throughout the UK and over to the states. In 2008, I moved to New Zealand and played gigs for accommodation and busked before purchasing a van and moving to the South Island where I met a beatboxer (Crowe) and in doing so we created a two piece beatbox blues duo. Still going by the name Heymoonshaker we created a tour from Nelson to Christchurch for the annual busking permit. En route we were reviewed in numerous media articles with regards to our alternate sound. Upon arriving at the busking festival, in Christchurch, we were denied access to the majority of the prime spots in the city but created a fan base and received various resident spots in local bars each weekend which in turn left mid week available to busk and promote ourselves. Whilst busking and networking with fellow buskers I recorded with various artist, whether it be solo performances or jam sessions which have been archived in a similar way Alan Lomax did with the Delta musicians in the 40’s. Whilst in Christchurch we recorded our first EP with backyard music run by Dave Thorpe (a booking agent running the circuit). Soon after the recording was mastered, Crowe left for Melbourne, due to commitments, and I left for the alpes of New Zealand to pursue the winter. Whilst in Queenstown Wanaka I busked and performed at a number of bars and art exhibitions before, starting work at Cardrona, a winter resort, where I played as a resident musician for guests staying up the mountain. Also, I was introduced to an exclusive 5+ piece jam band playing bass where I had the opportunity to concentrate on my improvised vocals. As the winter season ended I played my final gig in the alpes, opening for the Veils, a British/Kiwi Indie band. As summer bloomed, I set off travelling the east coast of New Zealand again. After spending 2 months in Dunedin saving money to fund my tour and Xmas in the northern most point of the south island I became stuck in Nelson at the beginning of 2010 due to a Rainbow Gathering Festival which brought a flock of bongo players to the streets. After waiting around for an extra 2 weeks in Nelson for a gig to come through I moved to Kaikoura down the east coast where I worked and had a resident musician spot at the Strawberry Tree, a place played by the majority of travelling musicians due to its location. The night slowly drew in various musicians throughout my time there and slowly developed into a blues jam night. Whilst in New Zealand a fan base was created from my busking and networking. Now in Broome I have two resident spots with different bars including a radio promotion for one of the venues which approached me after I played at their jam night. I am currently setting up a west coast tour which will include Broome, Dampier Coast, Midwest Coast, Fremantle, South West, Nullabor and Melbourne. Whilst in Broome, I am also helping contribute to the community by helping with outlets for young people through the local skate park, creating demos and competitions. Also, I have been involved with Environs Kimberley, an environmental group, whereby I performed alongside Harry Jakamarra at their annual art auction to help raise money for there worthwhile and crucial save the environment and community projects. In travelling as a musician I’ve
