This is a multi- purpose club for people who already have a certain level in English (intermediate and above) and an interest in the English speaking countries in general! The club will concentrate primarily but not exclusively on television( Especially British) as American, British and other Anglo-Saxon cinema is readily available in various formats in Russia. Since the 1950s, television has been a major cultural force in Great Britain largely eclipsing cinema in this country! There is a great wealth of material: comedies, dramas of every kind, documentaries of every kind, debates, current affairs that remain largely unknown to audiences in Russia. Our club offers our members the possibility to practice and keep up and develop their English through listening, asking questions and participating in discussions. Vocabulary and explanations are provided by an experienced professional English teacher! This club offers the possibility to gain a better knowledge and insight into British culture and life past and present. To understand what makes British people laugh, cry, feel uncomfortable, get angry etc. Maybe above all, we offer you the possibility to be entertained, thrilled, moved, enriched by some of the greatest moments from British (and sometimes other) Television some of which are internationally recognized as masterpieces of dramatic art! Whether you are a linguist, writer, actor, involved in cinema or broadcasting in any way or simply interested in the English language, we are sure you will find our presentations very rewarding! The cost of a session is 250 rub. The cost of 4 sessions is 800 rub. We meet on Sundays at The British Book Centre. The address is Izmaylovsky pr. 18.
