Eligibility requirements for Russian teachers include: •Be a Russian citizen and resident; •Teach English as a Foreign Language, Math, Science, or Technology; and •Be presently employed as a secondary school teacher (grades 5-11) in Primorsky Kray, Khabarovsk Kray, Amur Oblast, Jewish Autonomous Republic, Yakutiya (Sakha Republic), Magadan Oblast, Kamchatka Peninsula, or Chukhotka. See application for full list of eligibility requirement at http://cehd.gmu.edu/usrtpd See information on in-country partner in Vladivostok at http://cehd.gmu.edu/usrtpd Funded by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, this exchange program provides opportunities for Russian and U.S. secondary school teachers of English as a Foreign Language, Math, Sciences, and Technology to learn from one another, compare best teaching practices, and foster inter-cultural communication and excellence in the classroom through sharing of ideas and expertise. Russian participants attend U.S.-based professional development seminars, experience practical classroom-learning opportunities, as well as prepare to conduct post-program professional development workshops for colleagues in Russia. U.S. participants make a two-week reciprocal visit to Russia, where they collaborate on joint projects to build on the professional experiences established during the U.S.-based program. The program theme is “teacher leaders think systematically about their practice and learn from experience.”
